New year is coming: our students look forward to the year ahead

As we’re approaching 2022, we thought it’d be good to ask a few of our students what they hope the new year will bring, both to their individual lives and for Ukraine as a whole. What kind of changes do the young people want to see taking place in 2022? What are their wishes for the future? Check it out in our special holiday post.

Diana Bondarenko, journalism student of Taras Svevchenko University, passionate about art  and reading books, like talking with people and growing as a person.

I believe that every new year is special, and I always make wishes to the chiming clock. I don’t write any specific plans, but I want to have a lot of bright events for professional and personal development in 2022. And of course, I want to have happiness as I imagine it!
I wish all people to be healthy – this is really the most important thing. I also wish you inner peace and harmony, mutual understanding, creative success, joy, and positivity. Remember: a smile prolongs your life. I believe that in 2022 Ukraine will grow in all areas. I hope that Ukrainians will become closer to the dream country, in which they feel comfortable and happy to live!

Anastasiia Izvoshchikova, journalism student of Taras Shevchenko University, passionate about dancing, music and cooking. Love studying French

I would probably like to have more vivid impressions in the new year, more communication and, as a result, more energy exchange between people. It seems to me that this is exactly what we lack in this difficult period of the pandemic and endless quarantines. The main thing, in fact, is emotions, because they are most remembered. Both for myself and for Ukraine as a whole, I would like there to be more confidence in the future.

I would like not to be afraid of anything in the new year, and that there should be no fear in the country: fear of war, coronavirus, poverty, etc. And this requires self-belief, optimism and an understanding that only you can change your life for the better.

Christina Chorba, journalism student of Taurida University, like reading  about history, writing

When we’re approaching  New year’s day, we make some commitments to ourselves that we want to make our lives better. This could be changing a career, seting some goals and dreams for ourselves, and so on. But we forget that to change “something” in our lives, we must first change “the ourselves” part and for that we don’t need to wait until new year finally arrives. But let’s not be so critical of our own capabilities and set some goals to accomplish in the year ahead.

I promise that I will start working in journalism.

I promise that I will be continually growing as a person and getting better at my field.

I promise.. To just be happy.

I think the last one can be fulfilled on a daily basic. It’s not really important what kind of resolutions you make, say, for next year. What matters most is being happy I think. And if you feel happy, Ukraine will become a happier place to be in as well.
