The grant is provided by the NGO “Institute of Mass Information”. The Institute’s activities are aimed at protecting freedom of speech, promoting the development of Ukrainian journalism, researching public opinion and other phenomena related to the formation of mass consciousness.

Our project will highlight the stories of proactive Ukrainian youth during the full-scale invasion, telling about their achievements, aspirations and hopes for the future. The project was first supported by the Norwegian foundation Fritt Ord in the summer of this year, the grant was successfully completed at the end of September and the submitted report was approved by Fritt Ord. The Institute of Mass Information (IMI) offers these mini-grants to support Ukrainian media, especially those that have suffered most from the Russian invasion.

“It is very difficult for Ukrainian media and media NGOs, especially in the regions, to survive now – the decline of the advertising market, the exodus of staff, the destruction of editorial offices or equipment and other problems caused by the full-scale genocidal war launched by Russia. So the purpose of our ‘survival’ grants is to try to support newsrooms in difficult times. These are small sums of money for the media, but they will help meet the most urgent needs,” said IMI Director Oksana Romaniuk.
