NGO 'Student Journalism Platform' receives new grant from Fritt Ord Foundation

Dear readers, we have got some really great news today: the Norwegian foundation Fritt Ord has given a positive response to a grant application from our NGO. We applied with a project called “War Diary: Stories of Ukrainian Resistance”.

The project aims to collect and publish, in Ukrainian and English, the life stories of young Ukrainians from different walks of life, with different levels of education, beliefs, and lifestyles. They are activists, volunteers, members of NGOs who are doing their best to alleviate the suffering of our people in times of constant bombing, shelling and rocket attacks. We will pay a lot of attention to those young people who, despite the great difficulties of today, are making their contribution to Ukraine’s victory in this war. We will tell the stories of our volunteers, who are helping refugees, distributing humanitarian aid and organising various events to rally support for Ukraine and its people. Furthermore, we will tell the stories of journalists who travel to devastated towns and villages and talk to local people, drawing the attention of the authorities and the world community to the urgent problems facing the country. We will write about young people who have joined NGOs or set up their own, working every day to make this world a better place, a place without war. We will find out what hopes our young people have for the future.

Another of our aims is to collect and publish as much information as possible about temporarily displaced higher education institutions in Ukraine. We will try to answer the question of what challenges Ukrainian universities have faced as a result of the war and how they are overcoming these difficulties today.
More generally, we want to focus on what motivates Ukrainian youth to act, to create, to work and to have a positive impact on the life of their neighbourhood or even the whole country.

Fritt Ord is a private, non-profit organisation that promotes freedom of expression, public debate, arts and culture. We have previously received grants from them to develop journalistic projects related to the war in Ukraine. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to continue working on such projects and to contribute to this important work: telling the world the truth about the war unleashed by the Russian aggressor, from the perspective of our youth.
