Methods of raising children in preschool institutions in Ukraine and Norway

Every country has its own trends, methods, and peculiarities that set it apart from others. This applies to all aspects of life. Today, let’s take a look at the methods of raising children in kindergartens in Ukraine and Norway because preschool education is the foundation that is laid in a child for their future development.

Features of raising preschoolers in Norway:

The first feature: Games and entertainment are not the focus for Norwegian children. They don’t place much emphasis on master classes and artistic activities. This is because children in Norway become independent from a very early age. Parents leave their children in daycare centers from 11 to 12 months old. From this point on, the child begins to independently explore everything new, and educators only help them discover their environment.

The second feature: Harsh natural conditions are the best method of upbringing. Children spend most of their time outdoors. This way, they explore the world, strengthen their immune systems, and connect with nature. Moreover, preschoolers often eat outdoors. Temperatures as low as -14 degrees Celsius are considered normal for such outdoor activities.

The third feature is education according to the Law of Jante. Each individual is a part of society, which means the group. This law is the foundation of child-rearing not only in kindergartens but also in schools and higher educational institutions. It helps eliminate egoism by emphasizing equality in everything.

The fourth feature is related to nutrition. There are no systematic restrictions, such as “lunch must consist of soup, then a portion of a substantial second course, like mashed potatoes and cutlets, and finish with compote.”

Features of raising children in Ukraine:

The first feature is a strict schedule. Ukrainian kindergartens have defined time frames that help children develop discipline. A routine is, above all, a form of systematization that later becomes a habit. So, from an early age, children get used to order, which has a very positive impact on their physical and psychological well-being.

The second feature is related to cultural enrichment. Educators constantly work with children on learning poems and children’s songs as it is an excellent way to develop and train memory. Every season, parents and their children are invited to festivals where preschoolers showcase the works they have learned.

The third feature. The preschool age is the most critical stage in the formation of psychological well-being, so it is essential for the environment surrounding the child to be as comfortable as possible. Educators pay a lot of attention to the relationships that develop within the child’s peer group. Early childhood is a time for creating the first friendly relationships and finding friends with common interests.

Kindergartens are places where children spend most of their day, so it’s crucial to provide the most comfortable conditions for them. Both countries are developing and improving their preschool systems to ensure a bright future for their rising generations.
